The sister of missing Manic Street Preachers star Richey Edwards has thanked players of the People’s Postcode Lottery for raising more than £2m for a charity helping relatives affected by a disappearance.

Rachel Elias praised the firm for donating £2.2m since 2008 to the charity Missing People which supports families and searches for some of the 13,740 people who reportedly disappeared in Wales in 2012.

Her brother went missing in 1995, and she is now a family representative for the lifeline charity and constantly works to help people suffering the heartache of searching for a loved one.

Rachel said: “If your loved one went missing, you would want the whole world to stop and search for them.

“It’s heart-warming to see this staggering figure – £2 million is a huge amount of money for Missing People and it has helped with so many areas of the charity’s work.”

Missing People’s Chief Executive Jo Youle said: “A huge thank you to all of the players who have helped us be a lifeline when someone disappears.”

• If someone you love goes missing, the charity says you can call or text 116 000 for free 24 hour confidential advice, support and options via www.missingpeople.org.uk.
