Caerphilly’s footballing stars of tomorrow have been given a boost by Assembly Members Jeff Cuthbert and Lindsay Whittle.
Both politicians managed to get their hands on some new training equipment through an Assembly event organised by fastfood chain McDonalds.
Mr Cuthbert secured training equipment for Bargoed YMCA and BTM United while Mr Whittle got his for Cwrt Rawlin Under 12s.
Phillip Eedy, manager of Cwrt Rawlin Under 12s, said the kit will be of huge benefit to the team.
He said: “All kit is helpful as it’s all wear and tear. You would be amazed at how quickly you go through things.”
Mr Whittle, AM for South Wales East, and Mr Cuthbert, Caerphilly’s AM, said they were grateful to McDonalds for donating the kit.
The thing with Lindsay Whittle is that I disagree with about 75% of what he supports but he seems like a really nice chap and his heart is in the right place. I wish he would be more forceful with Assembly idiots. It's time to be more blunt and stern with them.
Well done Jeff and Lindsay. This is the sort of work that politicians regularly do for their local communities, but which invariably going unnoticed by national press because it's not scandalous.
Does anyone else find it ironic that McDonald's is sponsoring a sports team?
Yes! But its good PR for them. In much the same way Oil companies support environmental charities.
