Royal British Legion to host Poppy Picnic in Nantgarw

News | Richard Gurner | Published: 15:00, Tuesday September 24th, 2013.

The Royal British Legion is to host a Poppy Picnic, in Nantgarw this Wednesday (September 25).

The Poppy Picnic, which is free for members of the public to attend, will be at its new contact centre, managed by firm Connect Assist.

The Legion – which provides practical advice and support to all members of the British Armed Forces, past and present and their families – will welcome guests for tea, coffee and cupcakes, from 3.30pm.

If you would like to attend the event, please contact Rusty.livock@connectassist.co.uk or call 01443 827600 to reserve your place.

Carol Smith, Assistant Director Health and Social Care at The Royal British Legion, said: “We are looking forward to hosting our Poppy Picnic with Connect Assist next Wednesday and are excited to meet with our supporters in the area.

“The Legion spends £1.6 million a week providing direct practical care and support to the Armed Forces community. Without our loyal supporters getting behind events such as Poppy Picnics the Legion would not be able to sustain this level of support.”

Rusty Livock, Deputy Chief Executive of Connect Assist, said: “We are delighted to welcome The Royal British Legion into our contact centre to host a Poppy Picnic and we look forward to meeting new friends who donate to a great cause.”
