A Caerphilly town pub has been acclaimed for the quality of its real ale.
The Malcolm Uphill in Cardiff Road is listed in the Campaign for Real Ale’s Good Beer Guide 2014.
Local branch members chose the Wetherspoon pub following regular visits to check the quality of the real ales on offer.
They also took into account customer service, décor and overall atmosphere.
The pub’s manager Danielle Stephens said: “Staff at the pub work hard to ensure that the real ales on offer are kept in first-class condition at all times and the pub’s inclusion in the guide highlights this.”
Perhaps the Premises Supervisors of the other Town Centre Pubs could learn
a few lessons from the staff who run the `Malcolm Uphill`, This Pub really has been a refreshing example that not all the town centre pubs need to play loud music so that Residents need to hear it, that residents do not have to collect its Glasses from the streets, and, that residents do not have to run the gauntlet of drunks and rowdy customers leaving the premises after a happy night out.
Well done the Malcolm Uphill and well done John and Danielle, the managers. I can recommend the beer, quality is high and price is low. No loud music, in fact no music at all which allows conversation and proper socialising.
In fact why am I writing this now? I think I will make my way over there straight away to try some Wye Valley brewery autumn beer!
Regarding my last post the beer in 'The Malc' must be potent too, on last night's visit the brewery was discovered to be Exe Valley, not Wye!
