Gwent Police appeal over ‘gardening’ robbers in Abertwysswg

Three men posing as gardeners carried out a robbery at a house in Abertysswg,

The gang called at a house in Pen-y-Cwm at around 12.50pm on Friday October 11 and offered to do some gardening work for the householder.

Gwent Police said that while one man was mowing the lawn, another forced his way into the house and demanded money from the occupant.

The third man remained in the white transit van parked outside.

When the occupant handed over a quantity of cash the three men left the scene in the van. The occupant was left shaken but unharmed.

The man who demanded the money is described as being white, aged 30to 35, approximately 5ft 5in or 6in tall and of medium build. He was wearing a navy/black jacket with a logo across the chest and spoke with a local accent.

The man mowing the lawn is described as being white, in his mid 20s, approximately 5ft 6in tall and of stocky build. He was wearing a blue zip up jacket with a hood and black leather gloves.

It is believe the same group of men were in the also in the area at approximately 11am the day before, Thursday October 10.

Anyone who may have witnessed the men in the area, seen anything suspicious or has information relating to this incident is asked to call 101 quoting log 232 11/10/13.
