Islwyn MP’s new Shadow Treasury role

News | Richard Gurner | Published: 11:00, Tuesday November 5th, 2013.

Islwyn MP Chris Evans has joined the Labour Party’s Shadow Treasury Team after he was named Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Shadow Chief Secretary to the Treasury Chris Leslie MP.

Mr Evans joins the team after three years in Parliament and a year as a member of Labour’s Shadow Environment Team.

Mr Evans said: “I am absolutely delighted to be joining Labour’s Treasury team.

“Since my election to Parliament I have spoken on several occasions in the House of Commons about the Government’s failed economic policy.”

Mr Leslie added: “We are delighted to welcome Chris to the shadow Treasury team. Chris is a great speaker and has a long-standing knowledge of the economy and financial services.

“He will play a vital role in helping Labour to hold the Tory-led Government to account over three years of flatlining growth and falling living standards.”
