Police warning after spate of garage break-ins in Bedwas

News | Richard Gurner | Published: 09:55, Monday November 11th, 2013.

Police have warned residents to ensure their garage security is up to scratch following a spate of overnight break-ins in the Bedwas area.

Two garages were recently targeted on Pandy Road as well as a garage on Tydfil Road. All were entered.

A fence was also cut and entry gained to an industrial unit yard on the Pantglas Industrial Estate. It is not known yet whether anything was stolen.

If you have any information about the break-ins, please call 101 and quote log number 52 8/11/13.

Hunt them down and incarcerate them for a very long time, that's what I say we should do. Lets make sure they are entitled to the bare minimum to stay alive. No TV, no gym, no internet, no mirror, no bed etc… Just food, water, mattress and blanket, toilet, sink, simple toiletries and some exercise time.

They will not of course be hunted down and certainly wont be incarcerated even if they give themselves up, and that`s about the only way they would be identified.

They would not have their comforts denied them even if they were locked up, but of course they would ALSO have heat light and shelter to keep them alive, they would be able to put their feet up all day, they would have IMMEDIATE access to hospitals, dentists and all other medical care, no making appointments there, So all in all they would be a lot better off than the rest of us who pay heat light and power bills, queue without complaint to see the Doctor having also queued for days to make the appointment, waited months and months to see a Consultant, and even longer to access Cancer and other serious illness facilities and treatment.

Perhaps we should all conspire together to rob each others homes and garages, in turn, and `retire` to Cardiff nick for a duration in which we all get first rate medical care, all our power costs paid, and, have three hot square nutritious meals a day, and sky TV to boot.

You forgot to mention the £25 M&S vouchers when released on bail.

All the comments so far show unanimity regarding the way thieves should be dealt with. As Jeff says this will not happen. Perhaps we should look at way some offences were dealt with in the past when very short prison sentences, sometimes of only 7 days, were used as an effective deterrent.

The convicted criminals were fed and had shelter from the weather but that was all. They were not permitted to speak unless asked a question by a prison officer. Their day would be filled with boring unpleasant tasks and their nights would be spent on a hard bed. The idea then was that the convicted were in prison to be punished. There was no pretence that any rehabilitation was taking place, unlike today’s prisons.

After a few days of incarceration release was a huge relief for the prisoners, most of whom resolved to try and ‘go straight’. Unlike the people I hear as they make their way to the Magistrates Court near where I live talking of how they are looking forward to doing another stretch in a place of relative comfort where they can look forward to meeting old friends.

    Clive on November 11th, 2013 at 10:43 pm says…

The police can only solve problems if clues are left at the scene of the crime or if information is given to them from us.

Do try to be more positive Jeff, it helps if the likes of you stops whinging. Please.

I disagree Clive. The biggest help will be when the prisons become prisons and stop being tax payer funded holiday camps.

you lot should be ashamed of yourselves. prisons need to be nice as the prisoners in them will see what nice living is like and wanna be like that after prison. my brother has been in jail and he only had a choice of 5 meals and drinks thats nothing cause when you go to supermarket you have choice of hundreds of meals. yeah they get paid to do work but you do to so its only fair and they dont even get paid that much. these people as you call criminals above arent but they are desperate and need to feed there famalies so are forced to steal and if the govement gave them more money they could buy and not steal like.
