The concept of a ‘no cold-calling zone’ should be rolled out across the UK, Islwyn MP Chris Evans has suggested.
The Labour politician argued the case during a recent Westminster Hall debate led by Torfaen MP Paul Murphy.
Mr Evans said: “The Bryn estate in Pontllanfraith in my constituency has been plagued by doorstep scammers, rogue traders and their ilk for a number of years.
“Thanks to the Bryn residents’ association, a ‘no cold-calling’ zone has been introduced, which has had a huge and beneficial effect.
“Such schemes require further investigation by the government to prevent older people being duped into scams and swindles.”
