The Caerphilly and Bargoed lodges of the Freemasons have raised more than £9,000 for local charities and community groups.
On November 1, the lodges held their annual presentation evening in the Masonic Hall, Princes Avenue, in Caerphilly town.
The event was attended by the Assistant Provincial Grand Master for the Province of South Wales Reverend Alistair Swinford, who presented cheques to the various groups which included Prostate Cancer Support and Diabetes Support. Caerphilly MP Wayne David and Sarah-Jayne Evans, Miss Caerphilly 2013, were also in attendance.
Terry Scarfe, Chairman of Freemasons in the Community for the Caerphilly and Bargoed areas, said: “This is money raised throughout the year by the Freemasons with various functions, quiz nights, ladies nights and raffles.
“This year we raised £9, 173 but since we started in 2002, the total is £77,707.30.”
