Community group grants on offer

News | Richard Gurner | Published: 13:00, Friday December 27th, 2013.

Projects bringing locals and armed forces communities together are being encouraged to apply for a funding grant.

The Armed Forces Community Covenant Grant, administered by the Ministry of Defence, makes money available to projects that strengthen the ties between members of the local Armed Forces Community and the wider community in which they live.

The Caerphilly Local Service Board is urging qualifying projects to apply for funding from the scheme.
Caerphilly Armed Forces Forum will consider all bids, with those endorsed being submitted to the MOD Community Covenant Grant Scheme regional panels for consideration.

The deadline for applications is Friday January 17, 2014.

Cllr Alan Higgs, Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Armed Forces Champion, said: “The Armed Forces Community Covenant Grant provides funding for local projects to make a real difference in their communities, with £10 million being made available to groups and initiatives across the UK.

“I would encourage local community groups to access this funding support for projects that will support the values of the Community Covenant.”
