Health and Social Services Bill
I will be proposing changes to the bill when it comes before the National Assembly in February.

Readers will know my views, and those of many in other political parties, about the case for a ban on smacking of children and I’ll be putting forward an amendment.

This issue has been on the cards for more than a decade and the Welsh Government now needs to active positively and follow the lead of many European countries.

Caerphilly Library
This Friday I will be attending the official opening of the new Caerphilly Library and customer service centre at The Twyn.

This project was first borne when I was leader of Caerphilly council. I remember talking to the architect at the time and stressing that it was important that this new building was in keeping with our historic town. Some of the stones from the old post office have been used in this scheme.

The development will be a big boost for the town and I’m also pleased that the police are set to have a desk at the library. The issue of a police presence was something I raised with the Police and Crime Commissioner and the local police chief.

Local people will know that the land where the library has been built was the original site of Caerphilly Cheese Market.

The Heritage Minister last month stressed the importance libraries played in the life of communities by improving literacy and are an asset to young and old alike. He said that we needed libraries to continue to provide opportunities for learning and free access to digital services and I agree totally with those views.

We need them more than ever and I hope more people in the Caerphilly basin will take advantage of these wonderful facilities.

Instead of glory hunting perhaps Lindsay should spend time on sorting out the criminal activities still taking place within Caerphilly CBC some of which had taken place during his administration for which he chose to ignore.

Dont try and throw suspicion on Plaid, this disaster is typical of the Taffia tactics of the Labour Party who think they have a God given right to misrule by nepotism and dirty tricks.
