Four arrested on suspicion of murder after Trinant assault

The death of a 27-year-old man after he was reportedly assaulted is being treated as murder, police have said.

Gwent police were called to an address in Marshfield Road Trinant at approximately 7.30pm on January 11 following a report of an assault.

A 27-year-old man had sustained a wound to his torso and was taken to the Royal Gwent Hospital where he later died.

Police have named the victim as Ian Davies.

Four people, two men both aged 26 and two women aged 30 and 22- all from the local area have been arrested on suspicion of murder and are currently in custody.

Police are appealing for anyone with information about the incident or who was in the local area at the time to get in touch on 101 quoting log number 348 11/1/14.
