Llancaeach Junior School, in Nelson, has achieved the prestigious Platinum Eco School award as part of the Eco Schools programme.
Pupils started working towards becoming an Eco School in 2005 and their hard work has paid off with the awarding of the scheme’s highest honour.
Projects carried out at the school include introducing automatic light switches and developing the school grounds.
Headteacher Lisa Greenhalgh said: “I am overwhelmed by the commitment that both pupils and staff display to the eco agenda.
“Our pupil eco committee could not have worked harder or been more pleased at receiving the platinum award.”
Keep Wales Tidy Officer Matthew Bunt presented the school’s pupils with their award and praised them for their eco-friendly attitude to their school environment.
