Man charged with murder of Trinant man Ian Davies

A 26-year-old man has been charged with the murder of Trinant man Ian Davies.

Mr Davies, 27, was attacked in Marshfield Road Trinant at around 7.30pm on January 11 and suffered a wound to his torso. He was taken to the Royal Gwent Hospital where he later died.

Four people were arrested on suspicion of murder by Gwent Police.

Paul Mapps, 27, of Trinant, appeared at Newport Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday. The case was adjourned and Mapps will appear at either Cardiff or Newport Crown Court in the next two days.

A 26-year-old local man and two local women, aged 22 and 30, also arrested on suspicion of murder have been released on police bail pending further inquiries.
