Abertridwr cyclist killed in car crash named

News | Richard Gurner | Published: 10:02, Wednesday January 29th, 2014.

A cyclist who died after a road collision in Abertridwr has been named as Evan Dennis Hughes.

Mr Hughes, 63, was involved in a crash with a blue Renault Clio on Thursday January 23 on The Square, Abertridwr.

Known locally as Dennis, Mr Hughes was taken to the University Hospital of Wales where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the car was uninjured.

A tribute to Mr Hughes by his uncle read: “He was a wonderful kid and we’ve had so many people coming to the door saying what a loss it has been – he was that type of bloke.

“He was a good worker and a generally nice chap.”

Mr Hughes’ family has thanked people at the scene of Thursday’s crash who came to help.

Anyone who may have witnessed the collision is asked to call 101 quoting log 390 23/01/14.
