Rhymney Valley Athletics Club’s £1,000 grant

News | Richard Gurner | Published: 12:00, Friday February 14th, 2014.

A sport club has received a £1,000 donation after winning a competition run by supermarket Tesco.

Rhymney Valley Athletics Club was selected as the winners of the company’s ‘Helping Hands’ scheme after a two week vote by customers of its Ystrad Mynach store.

The athletics club, which relaunched in September last year, is the only athletics club for juniors in the county borough.

Gareth Davies, club Chairman and Coach thanked Tesco and said: “The money will be put to good use by buying much-needed new equipment for our junior athletes, helping them to progress into senior athletes with encouragement and by having fun.”

Congratulations to RVAC in securing the £1,000 grant. I wish RVAC every success in trying to re-establish themselves as a successfull athletics club again. I remember competing against Rhymney Valley Athletics Club in the late 90s and early 2000's. Great memories.
