A nine-year-old schoolboy has had a star turn in hit musical Evita.

Max Paynter, from Llanbradach, shared Cardiff’s New Theatre stage with Wet Wet Wet singer Marti Pellow, as part of a touring production of the hit Andrew Lloyd Webber musical.

Max performed alongside 20 other students from the Mark Jermin Stage School, singing the song Santa Evita from the well-known musical about Argentine first lady Eva Perón.

Speaking before his performance, Max said: “I am really looking forward to performing in the show. I love attending the stage school every Wednesday and can’t wait to get on stage now.”

Max’s mother Emily said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for youngsters here in Caerphilly to get a taste of a professional show and perform alongside well known professional actors. I know Max is really looking forward to performing.”

Max has been a student at the Mark Jermin Stage School in Caerphilly since it started at St Martin’s School in September last year.
