Tenants of United Welsh have saved more than £93,000 in the last year after the Caerphilly-based housing association installed solar panels on a fifth of its homes.
The association, which owns nearly 5,000 properties across South Wales, has installed solar panels on 905 properties.
In 2013 the panels generated 1,237,062 kilowatt hours – an annual saving of £102.79 per tenant, according to United Welsh.
Richard Mann, Director of Development at United Welsh, said he was delighted with the news. He added: “Our tenants’ homes are, on average, generating nearly 1,400 kWh each. Our commitment to improving our environmental performance is really paying off for our tenants.
“These fantastic results show the every-day benefits of installing solar panels.”
