The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh are set to visit Ystrad Mynach.

The Royal couple will visit company International Greetings UK Limited, based on Penallta Industrial Estate, on Wednesday April 30.

They will also visit Llantwit Major on the same day and Prince’s Gate Spring Water, in Narberth, Picton Castle, Haverfordwest, and Royal Dockyard Chapel, in Pembroke Dock, on Tuesday April 29.

Lance Burn, Managing Director, International Greetings UK Ltd, said: “We are extremely privileged and overjoyed that Her Majesty the Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh will visit us to officially open and unveil our new printing press facility at our UK Manufacturing operation in Ystrad Mynach, Wales on April 30, 2014.

“At International Greetings UK Ltd, we manufacture over 450 million meters of wrapping paper a year, of which 35% is exported worldwide. This major development project involved the Company investing over £8 million in two state-of-the-art printing presses within a new factory. The investment will protect the long term viability of our business and importantly, the local employment it provides.

“Our Tom Smith brand was granted a Royal Warrant in 1906 for the supply of Christmas Crackers, which are designed at our factory in Wales, and since 2013 we also now proudly hold the honour of producing Christmas Wrapping Paper for the Royal Household.

“This will be an historic day for all staff and a positive boost to the local area and community.”

Watch the sycophants and doffers come out of the local woodwork, lets see how many local movers and shakers buy new suites for the event, we do know that it is unlikely local Plaid Cymru politicians will go out of their way to welcome the Royal Party.

We all know Plaid Cymru are pro-isolation and pro-little Wales.

So this is why the road to the Idustrial site has been recently re-surfaced. Trust Caerphilly Council not to do something for the redidents themselves.

Is this the reason why the council can’t find £51’000 to host the Tour of Britain cycle race, they’ve spent it ( and more ) tarting up the place for The Queen.

I do hope the Queen & Duke google Caerphilly Authority before visiting. It’ll give them some idea of the type of people she’s expected to smile at.

Nothing wrong with the Royal Party visiting the borough, but, I have tried to envisage the route the Royal motorcade will take, I doubt it will take the route through Pengam and Cascade, although that is probably the most scenic way.

It could travel through Ystrad Mynach ( God forbid) and via Penallta Road, but then again, No.

That leaves Church road/Nelson Road, to Tredoman, and on passed Penallta Collery, I have noticed a lot of civic work being undertaken on this route to brighten it up. They could come to Ystrad Mynach on the Train, putting the timetable back 20 minutes or so, and providing the Royal Motorcade can park up somewhere near the Station and wait for them to arrive, and, wonderfully, if they did take this route they could call into NANCY`s CAFE on Nelson Road for lunch, thoroughly and highly recommended. Everything home cooked fresh, including all the veg. Freshly chipped chips, and a homemade pudding to boot. Yum Yum.
Royal Party coming to the borough, so what!!! let em get on with it.

Natasha – absolutely nothing wrong with the CITIZENS of Ystrad Mynach, just the town, which used to be a thriving shopping centre which would bring people together from Hengoed, Cefn Hengoed, Gelligear, Penybryn, the Graig, Maesycwmmer and even Nelson, yjast is until the local Labour Party decided that it would be a good Idea to allow TESCO to open the superstore. In one move the shortsighted local Labour Politicians destroyed what was a thriving centre of local trade, a centre where people from various local communities would shop or meet and chat over a cup of coffee in one of three Italian Cafe`s, a thriving shopping arcade, and a COOP departmental store two cobblers, a paper mill, a shopping bag factory, and two, comprehensive hardware, shops, a doctors surgery in the front room of a house in Lewis Street, a haberdashery shop, the Wonderful, Robinsons Chemists Shop, and a Florists which was used by only the well off in the area, ALL contained in the Centre of Ystrad Mynach.

All gone, now someone tell me Ystrad Mynach does`nt resemble a ghost town, if you are driving through, blink and you miss it!!!!!
