News | | Published: 15:00, Thursday May 8th, 2014.

A 41-year-old man is awaiting sentence after he admitted setting a bedroom alight.

Michael Kerr, of Milton Place, Graig-Y-Rhacca, lit the blaze in the bedroom of a house in Keble Court, Graig-Y-Rhacca, on Bank Holiday Monday, May 5 this year.

The house filled with smoke and the bedroom was severely damaged by fire. No one was injured.

Two fire crews from Caerphilly put out the fire, which was started at around 4pm, and a paramedic attended the scene but was not needed.

Kerr appeared before Newport Magistrates’ Court on May 7 and admitted a charge arson with intent to endanger life.

He was remanded in custody and will be sentenced at Newport Crown Court on May 30.
