Customers urged to vote for charity of the year at Sainsbury’s Pontllanfraith

News | | Published: 11:02, Wednesday May 28th, 2014.

Sainsbury’s Pontllanfraith are calling on customers to vote for a local charity to receive a year’s worth of fundraising and support.

From Wednesday May 28 until June 8 customers will be able to vote for their favourite local charity either instore or online.

After voting closes a shortlist of nominations will be drawn up and the Pontllanfraith colleagues will then invite three charities they feel best fit the needs of the community into store to talk about how Sainsbury’s can support them.

The chosen charity will be selected based on the reasons given and the store will announce their chosen charity in July.

Local charities that have benefited from the scheme in previous years at Sainsbury’s Pontllanfraith include Cancercareline in 2012 and 2013, raising over £5,000.

The store’s Local Charity partner last year were Trinity Fields Special Needs School and the partnership helped to raise  awareness.

Sainsbury’s Pontllanfraith Store Manager, Rachel Thompson, said: “We’re looking forward to supporting a local charity which touches many of our customer and colleagues’ hearts.

“The scheme gives us the chance to make a real difference to important causes in the community and we hope our customers get behind this year’s voting stage and nominate their favourite local charity.”

Please consider nominating Epilepsy Sucks UK, we are a relatively new national charity based in Crumlin, our goal is to stop preventable death from epilepsy. Our work can potentially save 1 life per day and would really appreciate the support on a local level. Thank you x
