Eight out of ten Welsh workers suffer from job stress

Business, News | | Published: 09:00, Monday June 9th, 2014.

Half of employees in Wales say they know a colleague who has had to quit work due to stress in the past year, according to a survey by Capita Employee Benefits.

The research also reveals nearly eight in ten workers in Wales have been stressed at work in the past year and, prompted by job insecurity, more than two in five are working longer hours.

Other findings show employers in Wales are failing to support their stressed workforce as nearly a third of those questioned who have personally suffered with stress, say after they addressed the issue with their employer nothing was done.

Based on research among people in full-time employment in Wales, the findings show half of employees feel that their employer has a responsibility to help them manage their personal health and wellbeing.
