Fuel thefts in Energlyn and Abertridwr

News | | Published: 14:00, Monday July 21st, 2014.

Gwent Police are reminding motorists to remain vigilant with the security of their vehicles after an increase in reported incidents of fuel theft.

On Sunday July 20, a locking fuel cap was stolen from a Renault Kangoo parked in Llwyn On Street, Energlyn. A fuel cap was also damaged on a Ford Transit Van parked in Gelli Dawel, also in Energlyn, on the same day. No fuel was taken in the second incident.

A Ford Transit Van was also targeted between Saturday 11pm and Sunday 11am in Abertridwr. Its fuel cap was broken and fuel was stolen from the vehicle’s tank.

Police are warning motorists to use a lockable fuel cap and to use a garage or driveway where possible.

Anyone with information on recent fuel thefts should call Gwent Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
