UES Energy Limited’s Managing Director Andrew Diplock has been shortlisted for the UK Final of the Institute of Directors’ Director of the Year Awards.

Mr Diplock was named Director of the Year in a Small Business at the IoD Wales Director of the Year Awards in May and is now shortlisted with other regional winners in the Director of the Year in an SME Company category at the national awards.

Over the last ten years, energy procurement company UES Energy, based on Caerphilly Business Park, has grown year-on-year in an extremely competitive market.

With a 95% customer retention rate, the company won its sector’s ‘Rising Star’ Award in June 2013 and, through developing its UK-wide client base, the business is set to see significant growth over the next few years.

Mr Diplock, who helped form the company, said: “I am thrilled to be shortlisted.

“None of my achievements would have been possible without the support of the great team here at UES Energy – all of whom have a passion to deliver excellent service to our clients.”

The Welsh Awards, which celebrate the best in Welsh leadership, were sponsored by Cardiff Business School.

Robert Lloyd Griffiths, Director of the IoD in Wales, said: “Andrew and all our other Welsh winners were thoroughly deserving of their titles and demonstrate the wealth of charismatic business leaders we have here in Wales.

“This is a record number of Welsh finalists for us this year and will make for a thoroughly exciting national event.

“I am always thrilled and proud of the calibre and quality of all our award finalists and winners. I am mindful that there is, in the wider business world, an ever increasing sense of hope and confidence for continued improvements in the economy of Wales – and long may that continue.

“Good luck to all Welsh Directors shortlisted.”

• The awards will take place in London on October 24.
