Crumlin-based Brace’s bakery takes on new staff after rise in demand

News | | Published: 17:00, Monday August 18th, 2014.

Crumlin-based bakery Brace’s has taken on five production and engineering staff at its Rogerstone bakery after an increase in demand.

The majority of the new recruits have come from the closed Avana Bakery, which has its site opposite the bakery.

New recruit Lee Pidgeon, 39 from Oakdale, said: “I was at Avana for 11 years and heard watching the news that the site was closing down. I was devastated.

“As I have a young family to look after, I went out the morning after the announcement to find new work. I am really excited to take on this new venture at Brace’s and to be part of the expanding business.”

Liz Hayward, HR Manager at Brace’s, said: “This is a really exciting time and we are continuing to recruit for people to join us to be part of our expansion.”
