A temporary 20mph speed limit has been imposed on a busy road bridge after it was discovered that urgent repairs were needed.
The speed limit is in place on the eastbound carriageway of the A472 Fiddlers Elbow Bridge, which connects the A470 Abercynon roundabout with the A472 roundabout towards Nelson.
The bridge carries tens of thousands of vehicles everyday, and recent camera surveys have shown the structure is in need of repair.
The eastern carriageway will be ‘plated’ to reduce the impact of traffic over the bridge.
The repair work is being carried out by Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council and Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council.
