The RSPCA is appealing for information after a dog was allegedly beaten by two men in Caerphilly.

A member of the public, who notified the RSPCA, said a woman riding a horse said she saw two men beating a dog and then ran off.

The male brindle lurcher was found collapsed on a small grass verge at the end of Rudry Road, Rudry, Caerphilly, at 7.10pm on Tuesday September 16.

RSPCA inspector Holly Brown said: “The poor thing was found by a member of public in a collapsed state with an injured head. The dog was disorientated and lethargic.

“A lady on a horse allegedly told the member of public that she saw two males in the area beat the dog. Unfortunately we have no details of the lady on the horse and no descriptions of the males.

“We urge anyone who has any information about this incident to get in touch, especially the woman who saw what happened.

“The dog has been taken to a vet in Newport but is not doing well at all. They suspect the dog has neurological damage.”

Anyone who may have information about the attack can contact the RSPCA inspectorate appeal line on 0300 123 8018. Calls are treated in confidence.

It is probably the case that the cretins who did this to a defencless, harmless and probably unsuspecting animal will not be able to read this because they probably wont be able to read, these cowards will of course think it is also right to beat children and defencless older people, probably beat thier wives or girl friends, and probable take drugs and drink to excess to numb thier already mangled, haddled thought processes, and, we, tax paying, ratepaying citizen of Wales, will be paying them to follow this lifeslyle by way of benefits.

If I am wrong in any of the above assumptions perhaps they would care to identify themselves and not ` run away` , like when they were shouted at by a lady on a horse, come on you pools of vomit identify and defend .yourselves

I think that you are probably correct in your assumptions, the pond life who did this do not deserve to breath the same air as decent honest people….gas is what they deserve to breath.

I have mentioned before that the people that take pleasure in maiming or killing animals are often identified later as serial killers. This story will move through the ranks as new stories are added and will soon be forgotten.

Do not forget that the people responsible for harming this dog will still live amongst us; beware of them, it could be your child or grandfather that these people target next. I really do think that cruelty to animals is not properly dealt with, hunters or fishers who kill for food are acceptable and almost without exception have reverence for all life. The person(s) who injured this dog are very dangerous and need to be caught soon.

I think a reward for information should be set up (there’s outrage on Facebook and people would donate) these men must not get away with this!

Poor animal. I hope that he recovers well and even if he suffers from brain damage that he will go on to have a full and loving life. If I wasnt so far away I would take this poor soul in.
