Economy Minister Edwina Hart has praised a multimillion pound sweet manufacturer for its innovation.

Bon Bon Buddies, based at Oakdale Business Park, is to receive £27,360 of Welsh Government support to further its overseas ambitions.

The company currently sells its products in more than 40 countries worldwide and, with the recent investment from the Welsh Government’s Innovation Vouchers scheme, the business is looking to further expand its operations in both the domestic and international markets.

The Welsh Government support of £27,360 will be used by Bon Bon Buddies to invest in new, innovative technology to help further drive the business’s productivity.

Edwina Hart said: “Bon Bon Buddies is a very innovative company with plans to increase its own brand confectionary and I am pleased support through the Innovation Vouchers scheme will help it develop new products and get them to market faster. I am also delighted to hear about the company’s plans to increase exports significantly.”

The company plans to grow turnover from £40m in the last financial year to more than £60m within the next three years, with the aim of winning a 20% market share across Europe.

Last month the company signed a deal with firm Britvic to brand a range of its sweets with soft drink Tango.
