Caerphilly County Borough firms named in Wales’ Fast Growth 50

Three firms based in Caerphilly County Borough have been named as some of the fastest-growing in Wales.

Vibrant Energy Matters, based in Oakdale, and Caerphilly-based Building Management Solutions and Direct Healthcare Services have all made it onto this year’s Wales’ Fast Growth 50 list.

Named as the 29th fastest growing company in Wales, Vibrant Energy Matters, based in Caerphilly town, provides energy certificates for commercial buildings and saw growth of 129.3% between 2011 and 2013.

At number 34 was business technology provider Building Management Solutions with 115% growth

At number 48 was Caerphilly-based Direct Healthcare Services, a manufacturer of pressure sore mattresses, cushions and overlays. The company, established in 2009, enjoyed growth of 88.7%.

Speaking at the Wales Fast Growth 50 annual dinner, when the list was announced, Business Minister Edwina Hart paid tribute to all the companies for their contribution to the Welsh economy.

She said: “While we have seen some success recently I am aware that more needs to be done. However, I am encouraged by the talented, enthusiastic and hard working entrepreneurs we have in Wales demonstrated clearly by the Fast Growth 50.

“By working together, and creating opportunities for them, I am confident that we can delivery the Welsh Government’s vision for economic growth.

Also speaking at the dinner was Secretary of State for Wales, Stephen Crabb.

He said: “You can all take pride in knowing that you among the fastest-growing firms in Wales. You hard work and determination are creating jobs and strengthening the Welsh economy for the future.”

This year’s Fast Growth 50 has a combined turnover of £272m with the companies employing more than 3,000. Over the two year period they created 1,500 new jobs.

Topping the list was Llangennech-based business Hydro Industries.

The company provides technologies in water purification in some of the world’s most deprived regions. It had a growth rate of 762.2%.

Chief executive of Hydro Industries Wayne Preece said: “This award will help get cash for the business, boost our global credibility and support growth in the domestic market, where we are talking to Welsh Water and Scottish Water.”
