Dream of turning former pub into community centre ends for Trethomas group

News | | Published: 15:00, Friday May 15th, 2015.

A charity’s dream to turn the closed Ty-Yn-Y-Pwll Inn in Trethomas into a vibrant community hub has come to a halt due to a lack of funding.

Connections Community Hub (CCH) agreed to purchase the building last year and had plans to transform it into a café with a difference – a multi-functional hub for the whole community to use, access services and develop ideas.

But after two and a half years the charity has been forced to end the plans as they couldn’t secure enough funds.

Project lead Matt Parsons, said: “Due to the difficulty that we have experienced in obtaining the required funds, CCH has decided to end pursuit of the vision to establish a community hub at the site of the old Ty-Yn-Y-Pwll Public House in Trethomas.

“We believe that the proposed hub would have provided an excellent facility and much needed initiatives for the community of Trethomas and the surrounding area.

“In pursuing the vision over the past two-and-a-half years we have made many friends who have supported and inspired us as we have journeyed together. We thank you for all you have done and been to us.

“We understand that this will be disappointing for the people and organisations who have built good relationships with CCH, and in particular those who were excited about partnering with us.

“We look forward to continuing these relationships as we move forward and remain committed to helping the community of Trethomas.”
