St James Primary School has hosted a visiting teacher who recently returned from Lesotho.
Lesotho is a landlocked kingdom that is completely surrounded by South Africa.
Since January, St Jmes has been linked with a school in the heart of the impoverished country.
Kim Tattum spent six months in Africa with Dolen Cymru, helping teachers develop their teaching skills.
On her return, St James Primary hosted her for two weeks to develop their links with Lesotho.
Miss Tattum spent half a day in every classroom teaching pupils and staff about life in Lesotho.
Activities were completed in each lesson and included making rondavels, toys from rubbish, learning about the different clans, trying on traditional Lesotho clothing and much more.
A showcase was held for the school, parents, Dolen Cymru’s education officer and three Lesotho teachers who are in Wales for eight weeks.
The afternoon started with a pupil from the school welcoming their guests in Sesotho, the native language of the Basotho people, and performing the national anthem of Lesotho.
Each class then enthusiastically took to the stage and displayed what they had created over the two weeks to their guests, family and friends.
It must be a hangover from our colonial days for the other to be interesting it has to be physically far away.
