Blackwood Comprehensive School has become the second school in Caerphilly County Borough to offer a qualification in radio broadcasting.

The school received a grant from the Welsh Government to work with young people aged 16 to 19 who require training and qualifications.

Around 20 pupils passed a qualification in broadcasting and now help run the school’s station, Radio Pawar, which was opened by BBC Radio Wales’ Kayleigh Thomas.

Cllr Rhianon Passmore said: “The range of skills pupils will develop through this course will most definitely help them as they move on in their future careers.”
