Rhymney and Pontlottyn parishes get new vicar

News | | Published: 17:00, Tuesday July 28th, 2015.

The separate parishes of Rhymney and Pontlottyn have welcomed a new vicar, as part of a partnership between the Dioceses of Llandaff and Monmouth.

Father Rob Lindsay has taken charge of both Rhymney and Pontlottyn, which includes Abertysswg and Fochriw. This is the first time one priest has taken responsibility for a group of parishes which cross the boundaries of two Dioceses.

The boundary between Llandaff and Monmouth is the River Rhymney.

The Church in Wales has said Father Lindsay’s appointment will help it minister in a unified way at the head of the Rhymney Valley.

Father Lindsay said: “What a privilege it is to be asked to serve in both Monmouth and Llandaff Dioceses. Personally it is an exciting opportunity to be a trail blazer for a new form of co-operation between the parishes in the two dioceses.

“This venture will hopefully bring the parishes closer together to enhance the current relationships and thereby form deeper relationships with each other and Christ, as we serve to grow God’s community.”
