A documentary from a Caerphilly-based film producer has found its way into UK cinemas – including Blackwood’s Maxime.

Orion: The Man Who Would Be King profiles the life of Jimmy ‘Orion’ Ellis, a mysterious masked singer launched into the world by Sun Records in the aftermath of Elvis Presley’s death and how the ‘Elvis is alive’ myth was born.

The documentary, produced by Dewi Gregory, of Caerphilly-based company Truth Department, has already had screenings in Cardiff and was shown in Blackwood’s Maxime Cinema on September 29, followed by a Q&A session with director Jeanie Finlay.

The film, which has had rave reviews in the movie press, is being shown across the UK and will be in Newport next month after support from Ffilm Cymru Wales.
