An industry-leading company which invented a valve used every day around the world is celebrating its tenth anniversary.
Hobbs Valve, based on Trecenydd Business Park, invented and manufactures its ‘Triple Offset Butterfly Valve’ – used in the oil and gas, power, chemical, mining, marine, military, pharmaceutical and steel industries.
The valves cope with extremes of pressure and temperature in the toughest industrial and natural environments.
Over the last ten years, the company has benefitted from Welsh Government grants as well as the backing of Caerphilly County Borough Council, Finance Wales and HSBC.
Chairman Alun Hobbs said: “Our first ten years have been absolutely amazing. From coming up with the idea and initial designs for our Triple Offset Butterfly Valve we’ve built a business with a strong customer base and global reach. Innovation is at the core of our business and we’re determined to stay at the cutting edge and ahead of the competition.
“We’re a proud Welsh company and all our valves are designed and manufactured here in Wales and exported globally. The knowledge and expertise of our staff is second to none. They’re always coming up with new products to suit our customers’ challenging requirements.”
Further expansion will see the company open a new manufacturing facility in North America.
Mr Hobbs added: “While I’d like to thank our customers, suppliers, staff and backers for their support over the last ten years, I’m sure they’ll be pleased to hear that we’re aiming to double the size of the company in the next five years.
“We have exciting expansion plans which will see us move into new markets and take on more diverse and challenging projects. We’re also planning to expand our manufacturing facilities in key markets to support our expansion.
Founded by Mr Hobbs in 2005 and led by key industry professionals and experts, Hobbs currently employs 36 staff in a range of high-calibre roles.
The company’s in-house design engineers use leading technologies including 3D Solid Modelling, Finite Element Analysis (FEA), and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) to provide customers with tailor-made solutions.
The company recently held an open day as part of its anniversary celebrations with money raised for the Little Hearts Matter and Noah’s Ark Appeal charities.
