Gwent Police seek public support after assaults on officers

News | | Published: 14:00, Friday October 30th, 2015.

Gwent Police Chief Constable, Jeff Farrar has called for more public support after two officers were hospitalised after being assaulted.

An officer was taken to hospital after being kicked in the ribs while making an arrest in Newbridge on October 17.

“It was a busy weekend across the force, especially with many enjoying the big weekend of sport, however, please spare a thought for those who were policing the streets during the drunken aftermath.

“It’s one thing to drown your sorrows, but when that turns into assaulting police officers, or in another case vomiting on an officer, this is completely unacceptable.”
