A community centre’s kitchen has had a £5,000 makeover, thanks to contractors currently renovating council houses.

The overhaul at Phillipstown Community House was fitted by construction firm Mi-space and supplied by builders’ merchant Robert Price.

Neville Harris, treasurer of the Phillipstown Community Residents’ Association, said: “The new kitchen has been a fantastic asset to us. The doors of the old kitchen units were hanging off and it was in a bit of a state but the new kitchen fitted by Mi-space is great.

“The kitchen is in constant use from cooking lunches for the elderly, to teaching children and their parents how to create healthy, tasty meals. This new kitchen is a real boost for the community and has had a massive impact.”
