Caerphilly Castle walk to help raise awareness of domestic violence

News | | Published: 15:00, Wednesday November 18th, 2015.

Men, women and families are being encouraged to take part in a special walk to raise awareness of domestic abuse, as part of the global White Ribbon Campaign.

The “shine a light” one-mile walk will take place on Friday, November 20 at 4.30pm at Caerphilly Castle, on the grassed area on Crescent Road.

Cllr Nigel George, Cabinet Member with responsibility for Public Protection at Caerphilly County Borough Council said: “This awareness raising event may be lighthearted in its nature, but behind it is a very serious message.

“I would encourage as many people as possible to get involved by taking part in this event, and by doing so they will help us raise awareness of the White Ribbon Campaign, as we seek to support those suffering from domestic abuse – both women and men – in our county borough and beyond.”

Walkers are asked to arrive at 4.30pm for registration, with the event starting at 5pm. Visit www.eventbrite.co.uk to register.
