Morgan Jones ward community partnership to hold first meeting

Residents living in the Morgan Jones ward in Caerphilly town are being invited to join a new partnership aimed at giving them a better voice.

The community partnership will meet to discuss local projects and ideas from residents and local organisations to decide priorities for the ward. Organisers are hoping that a cross-section of residents will attend the first meeting to put their views forward.

Cllr James Pritchard said the aim of the new partnership was to “devolve opportunity down to local residents”.

He said: “The aims of the new partnership are simple. To listen to the views of local residents and work with local organisations to bring about improvements in the ward. It’s an exciting opportunity.”

The first meeting will take place at The Old Library, in Morgan Jones Park today, Thursday, November 19 at 6.30pm.

It would be good if Councillor Pritchard`s motivations could be replicated in other Wards in Caerphilly. But that would depend of course if other ward Councillors are similarly motivated. Some actually need to get a grip of networking before they over extend themselves and their confidence to create forums lke those Jamie Pritchards feels comfortable in promoting.

I am absolutely thrilled that we in the Morgan Jones area now have a community partnership, something other areas in the borough have had, but we were very much missing. I hope residents embrace this mechanism for engagement and consultation; this is an opportunity to have our say about the things we’d like to see in our community, and work towards effecting positive change for our area. Well done Councillor Pritchard for creating this platform and giving residents a voice in local decision making. I would encourage people in the Morgan Jones area to attend these meetings, and become a driving force for change.
