Caerphilly town supermarket to hold defibrillator demonstration

News | | Published: 17:00, Friday November 27th, 2015.

Morrisons in Caerphilly is raising money to install a heart defibrillator at the stall.

Staff will hold a demonstration by Welsh hearts on how to use the life-saving equipment on December 4.

Meanwhile on December 1, pensioners are invited to the store for a free mince pie and cup of tea between 2.30pm and 5pm.

Correct me if I am wrong but is a store with a £16 BILLION turnover really fundraising to install a defibrillator?

Didn’t Morrisons make a loss this year of over £700m, a free mince pie is about all they can stretch to, thou you’d think Caerphilly Council could donate a defibrillator, after going through their procurement process and using their preferred suppliers I’m sure they could get one for around £10k.

True. I am not surprised at the loss. The store in Caerphilly feels old, cramped, and puts off people wanting to shop there. The whole chain needs a refresh, potentially a new name, and a new CEO.

£10k? Let us be realistic, Paul. It would cost £10k to conduct a study into whether they should consult the public. It would then be £10k to consult the public, another £10k to research whether the public’s view should be listened to, £140k to pay the person who wrote the report, £500,000 in legal fees after it turn out the person who wrote the report worked for a defibrillator-making company, and £30k to repeat the process, and then a final £10k to actually source it.

You forget that how they spend their own money is up to them.

The fact is the entire shop needs a defibrillator to revive it.

10 minutes shopping, 20 minutes queueing to get through the tills to get out. And the ellusive missing till operators when they are called to open tills is a con of smoke and mirrors, never once have I seen a single extra till openedwhen staff are called to reduce the waiting queues of customers trying to get out. Perhaps this is why the store needs an in house defibrillator, to revive ailing staff unwilling to hepl their colleagues when times get busy.
