A calendar showing images of Llanbradach past and present has gone on sale to raise money for next year’s Christmas decorations in the village.

The 2016 calendar has been organised by Andrew King and ward councillor Colin Mann after many requests following the success of the 2015 calendar.

Last year’s calendar went to ex-Llanbradach residents worldwide, reaching as far as New Zealand, Australia and America.

It comprises of local scenes, photos of school classes and social events dating back to the early years of the last century.

Copies are available via Andrew King at andrewking@btinternet.com and local shops.

Full details are available on www.facebook.com/groups/Llanbradach/

The calendar is selling for £4 and any surpluses will be donated to local organisations.

The purchase of the Christmas lights, plus maintenance and energy costs, have been funded over the years by the Llanbradach and Pwllypant Community Council with some assistance from the county council.

The community council is now facing the very expensive challenge of replacing some of the older lights and the withdrawal of funding from the county council means extra money is needed.

Good initiative by local Councillors with the engagement of local
residents, this combination in Llanbradach may be the reason why, year
after year, the Streets Christmas lights throughout the Village,
together with the decorated private homes takes the Village to a higher
level than all other towns in the valley at Christmas time, In
particular Llanbradach knocks Caerphilly Town lights into the long grass, rubbish
year after year, hand it over to the community to organise.
