Utility firm Welsh Water, based in Nelson, has scooped the best water company award at the National Moneywise awards.
Nearly 14,000 readers of Moneywise magazine voted for their favourite utility companies and supermarkets.
Water companies that were nominated were scored on their customer service, value for money and clarity of their bills. Welsh Water received top marks in every category and was substantially ahead of the rest of the nominees in the value for money category.
Winning the award comes in the wake of the Consumer Council for Water revealing that Welsh Water had the second lowest volume of customer complaints for 2014/15 among the ten water and sewerage companies.
Chris Jones, Welsh Water’s Chief Executive said: “Our customers are at the heart of everything we do and we think our customers have the right to a great service as well as value for money.
Welsh Water is the only not-for-profit utility company in the UK with profits ploughed back into the firm.
