Residents “satisfied” with Caerphilly Council services

News | | Published: 14:00, Wednesday December 23rd, 2015.

Residents in Caerphilly County Borough are said to be “satisfied” with council services, according to a survey.

Earlier this year Caerphilly County Borough launched its ‘Household Survey’ to find out how residents rated services such as recycling, highways, community safety and leisure.

A total of 1,258 responses to the survey were received with 78% saying they were satisfied or very satisfied with the overall service provided by the council.

Libraries, parks and tourist attractions gained high praise from those answering the survey.

Cllr Keith Reynolds, Leader of Caerphilly County Borough Council, said: “The results from this survey are very encouraging, and it’s good to see that, despite these difficult financial times, our residents remain satisfied with the levels of service that our dedicated workforce deliver on a daily basis.

“We also acknowledge there are some areas in need of improvement too, so we remain committed to working to address these moving forward.”

As in previous years, dog fouling and littering were the biggest problems people felt affected their streets.

How satisfied is everyone with the planned council tax rate rises to pay for service?:

“Very Satisfied”, “Satisfied”, “Or Very, Very Unsatisfied as Everything is Terrible and it is worse than Hitler’s atrocities”?

See how easy it is to get a good answer? If I asked people that question with those answers I could claim 100% of respondents are satisfied with tax increases.

Yes it is very easily to manipulate a multiple choice questionnaire in order to achieve the desired outcome, and I dare say the council pay contractors to do just that.
Q – What rate of council tax rise would you be happy with.
      A – 10%
      B – 6%
      C – 3%
      D – 1%

100% of people said that they are happy with a council tax increase.

If the population of Caerphilly is around 35’000, 1’258 residents completed the survey with 78% saying they were satisfied overall with council services that means that in total about 3% of Caerphilly residents are satisfied overall with council services – meaning 97% of Caerphilly residents are unhappy with services provided by Caerphilly Council, I to can massage the figures to get the desired result.

I noticed that there were no questions for certain, high cost, council activities.

Are you satisfied that for nearly three years we have been paying suspended employees salaries in excess of £100,000 per year whilst paying their stand ins similar amounts?

Considerably more money is spent on `allied` services which the public were never asked about in this or or any other surveys, Consultants, planning experts, surveyors, valuers, solicitors, all replicating staff already employed by us in the Council, it gives these salaried staff a considerably easier ride when it comes to taking responsibility for things which go wrong, it lets Chief Officers Off The Hook, and it costs us many hundreds of thousands of pounds, from an ever depleting budget. The milions of pounds paid into the Elected Councillors Pension Scheme every year, the IT cost to provide Councillors with equipment at home they can`t use, home telephones (try to get hold of one), and the huge cost of hospitality spent by the elected members every year. Otherwise, why would`nt I be satisfied?

  • A new health board initiative is changing the way menopause care is delivered in GP surgeries across Gwent. The Menopause Champions Project, introduced in June this year by Aneurin Bevan University Health Board, aims to give patients going through menopause better access to informed and consistent support from their local practice teams. The scheme was developed by Dr Jayne Forrester-Paton, a menopause and sexual and reproductive health specialist, alongside Dr Michelle Olver, clinical lead of the menopause team, and nurse consultant Nikki Noble. Together, they set out to equip GPs and practice nurses with up-to-date knowledge and practical tools to improve care. So far, 41 GP practices in the region now have a trained “Menopause Champion” — a clinician who can provide advice and guidance on both hormonal and non-hormonal treatment options. These champions are backed by a network of colleagues and specialists to help them stay confident in managing more complex cases. Dr Forrester-Paton said the project had already made a strong start and would continue to grow: “We are proud of how successful this project has been so far and will continue to grow, with plans to expand educational sessions for clinicians, offer virtual case discussions to improve care for complex menopause cases and strengthen the collaboration between primary care and specialist menopause services. “The Menopause Champions Project is helping to ensure that menopause is treated with the same care and attention as any other health issue, giving patients the support they need, when they need it.”
