Discount retailer Poundworld has announced it is opening a store in Bargoed at the Lowry Plaza retail development.
Taking up two units, the store will trade from 8,700 sq ft of retail space.
Chris Edwards Junior, Trading Director for Poundworld, which also opened a store in Blackwood last year, said: “We’re thrilled to be opening at Lowry Plaza on Hanbury Road this coming February, creating 30 retail jobs in the process.
“We’ll be investing over £250,000 to ensure that the store and the customer shopping experience is as good as our bargains.
“It’s a really big store in a great, convenient location and we believe Poundworld will be a great asset to the local community. We’re there to help local shoppers save more on thousands of household brands, with big savings on supermarket prices to be found.”
Cllr Ken James, Cabinet Member with responsibility for Regeneration, said: “This is a strong high street retailer which has shops right across the UK, and I am sure the retailer will do very well in Bargoed and help bring in even more shoppers and investment to the town.”
Poundworld will join Greggs and Subway on the Lowry Plaza development, which sits alongside Morrisons supermarket.
