BBC Radio 1’s Greg James, is facing his toughest challenge yet with the Radio 1 Gregathlon for Sport Relief.

BBC Radio 1 DJ Greg James is heading to Penyrheol Community Centre on February 9 as he takes part in a triathlon challenge to raise cash for charity Sport Relief.

The presenter will be attempting to complete a triathlon a day for five consecutive days around five different UK cities – including Cardiff.

Ken Harris, Treasurer of Penyrheol Community Centre, explained that the DJ will be taking a “pitstop” at the centre, which is roughly at the halfway point of his Welsh triathlon course.

Mr Harris said: “We’ll give him and his entourage a warm welcome.

“We’ll make lots of Welsh Cakes and dress up in Welsh costume.”

Speaking ahead of his challenge, Greg said: “It will come as no surprise to you that I’m not a professional athlete. So the prospect of doing one triathlon is daunting enough. Doing five in five days in five different cities is madness.

“I want this to be one of those challenges no one following it would want to do. It needs to be genuinely horrible for me so that people buy into it and donate their hard-earned money to this incredible cause.”
