A computer networking specialist based in Bedwas has won a major contract to supply electronics giant Sony.
Twisted Pair Technologies, based on Bedwas House Industrial Estate provided its networking services to the Welsh manufacturing division of the Japanese company.
The contract, for an undisclosed sum, saw the team re-cable Sony’s entire manufacturing site, installing over three kilometres of fibre optic cable and 17km of copper cabling.
David Morgan, IT manager at Sony UK Technology Centre, said: “Some of our infrastructure was 25-years-old. We were also operating at full capacity, which meant we were restricted in terms of future growth.
“Twisted Pair were excellent. Their engineers were technically competent and worked to exacting standards and produced high quality workmanship. They clearly labelled and tested each and every item, which in a huge building such as this is no mean feat. The Twisted Pair contractors even brought their own hoover and cleaned up after themselves.
“They were a great company to work with.”
Mark Cushing, Managing Director of Twisted Pair ,said: “It was a pleasure to work with a world-renowned brand such as Sony.
“In just over eight weeks we installed an all-new fibre optic infrastructure including 22 new or re-fitted data cabs with multiple redundant fibre optic links and over 350 cat5e data outlets.
“Through servicing this contract we have also supported some of the 32 start-ups based in the UK Technology Centre.
“This contract is a perfect example of our plans to grow Twisted Pair into one of the leading computer networking firms in the UK.”
As well as wired networks, Twisted Pair also supply wireless solutions as well as providing design, installation and fault-finding services.
