Pantside Primary School pupil, 4, saves classmate from choking

News | | Published: 10:00, Thursday March 3rd, 2016.

A four-year-old boy is being called “Dr Harvey” at his school after saving the life of a girl classmate.

Harvey didn’t panic when food became lodged in the throat of Aniya Williams as she ate lunch in the school hall at Pantside Primary School, Newbridge.

He jumped from his seat at the table and slapped her on the back until the food came clear.

Teacher Kira Watkins told how Aniya, also four, had started to choke on her sandwich.

Kira, 27, said: “Harvey reacted immediately and whacked her on the back.

“He jumped up without even a second thought.”

Harvey is now the toast of dinner ladies at school, who have dressed him up in a white coat and stethoscope.

His mum, Kay Price, 30, said: “We’re absolutely ecstatic if I’m honest, me and his dad.

“For a four-year-old to think quickly like that, we can’t get over it.

“The dinner ladies and the breakfast club ladies all make a fuss of him and call him Dr Harvey.”
