A 25-year-old woman who was a passenger in a car that left the road and rolled down a mountain has died, police have confirmed.

Carla Jones, from Abertysswg, was travelling in a brown Citroen Picasso on Tuesday, February 9, when it left the mountain road near the Mountain Ash Inn in Abertysswg.

Ms Jones and the driver were both airlifted to University Hospital Wales in Cardiff in a critical condition.

Gwent Police have now confirmed that Ms Jones passed away on Sunday, March 27.

A spokesperson said: “Her family are being supported by family liaison officers at this difficult time.”

The driver, a 48-year-old man from the Abertysswg area, is still recovering in hospital.

Officers continue to appeal to anyone who may have seen the vehicle immediately before the collision or the collision to call 101 quoting log 94 09/02/16.
