A councillor has called for the use of creative arts to boost business and tourism in Caerphilly town.

Cllr James Pritchard, who represents Morgan Jones ward for Labour on Caerphilly County Borough Council made the call following the success of the recent dragon sculpture in Caerphilly Castle.

The model dragon, complete with smoking nostrils, saw the castle record a 185% increase in visitors during the first week of its appearance.

Cllr Pritchard said “I’m seeing more and more discussion from residents about that need for Caerphilly to make the most of its fantastic potential.

“Facebook groups are springing up and people I meet with are passionate about improving our town.

“We need to make use of our great assets and use more creative arts to bring people to the town. We need to make sure businesses in the town see the benefits of any increased footfall.”

How much money has such artistic creations made for CADWR who manage the Castle. People with families have to avoid entering the castle or, pay, to see it.

Councillor Pritchard is right of course providing the creations are truelly community art, where all members of the community, regardless of their means to pay to see such attractive art creations can enjoy them.

Art is useless. The focus should be on technology, science, and services, not art.

You have an `upvote` from Lisa, on your comment, a Welsh Nationalists who, in another life, promotes the misuse and waste of ratepayer cash to promote useless and meaningless third party activity of no benefit to local ratepayers and their families, on quasi political sycophantic projects.

Pity Lisa and her party did not concentrate on technology, science and services, butm as you know, there are no votes in doing so.

Is there something of the `night` about you `Night? you know, dozy, sleepy, tired and worn out, or are you simply rude, and crude and disrespectful like your Welsh Nationalist colleagues?.

          Back to the point of these comments;

So, Lisa and her party did not concentrate on technology, science and services, when they were in charge of the Council then?, which is something Lisa supported in her vote for the comment, The Nationalists really should support community art projects everyone can enjoy, I would however expect such a comment From Mr O at least he tries to be consistant.in his views.

It seems you, like Liebour are very consistent in the stories you keep making up.

I guess that indicates how worried you are about losing Caerphilly in the election due to years of neglect and mistakes from Liebour.

LDP and sandwich tax just 2 recent ones, the people of Caerphilly County will not forget …..

LOL. Yet another incoherent load of nonsence from a Welsh Nationalist, and a party which has just ditched its last and only, `endearing` policy, one which it has held onto since its inception as a Rag Tag and Bobtail group of politicians who had a true and honest vision for our Great Country, now, you all move one step back to your socialist roots and side by side with the Labour Party.

Maybe the Labour councillors should be asking forgivness from the good people of Caerphilly county and say sorry about ruining the area with the LDP and imposing the sandwich tax.

Maybe The local Welsh Nationalist Councillors should stop partying when they spend £10,000 on fireworks, and divert this money to more inclusive and sustainable and inspirational schemes suggested by this local Labour councillor.

Maybe local Welsh Nationalist Councillors should stop celebrating when they give £10,000 of our money to some welsh organisation or other to party with. And use that money on local sustainable community projects like the ones Labour Councillor James Pritchard wants to promote, LOCALLY, for the benefit of LOCAL people.

All the kids in my street love the fireworks and the lantern parade. Sometimes is nice to “have a party”!

Is it art or a creation from a commercial company?

Ask the local Welsh Nationalist Councillors who recently awarded £1000 to a local private Company, having already given them ratepayers money previously, Why? for what,? we dont know, can you find out Lisa and tell us all about it?. or is it a matter for the Auditor General for Wales to investigate.

I suspect more lies from the resident labour poster who is probably getting paid by Labour for all this nonsense

Suspect what you like, but Thanks Lisa for allowing me to clarify and confirm my comment;Check out the minutes of the Town Council, they are PUBLIC documents.

£10,000 plus for a Fireworks display Last November From our rates by Welsh Nationalist Town Council.

£10,000 to a Welsh group last year,From our rates by the Welsh Nationalist Town Council

£1,000 given to a local Private Ltd Company ( against the rules set by the government) the company just happens to be a `Welsh named Company which seems to be a pet Company of The Welsh Nationalists, and adds to the money they have given them in the past,

The list goes on, and is probably a good referral to the Auditor General to investigate.

It’s interesting that James Pritchard has once again gone running to the media without making any representation at any meetings in the Council. It was the Labour group that decided to remove funding for the highly successful Proms in the Park which attracted people from all over South Wales and put Caerphilly on prime time BBC1.

I agree that Caerphilly should be making more of its greatest asset, but it’s successive Labour & Plaid administrations that have kept quiet about the Castle for fear of offending those in Islwyn or the Upper Rhymney Valley.
