Three people arrested after police officer is the subject of racist Facebook posts

Two men and a woman have been arrested on suspicion of inciting racial hatred after comments and a photo of a Gwent Police officer were posted on social media.

The men, 33, from Graig-y-Rhacca, and 31, from Lansbury Park, and a woman, 30, from Aberbargoed, have been released on bail pending further enquiries.

The officer in question was on duty in the Bedwas area, and it is believed the posts were made on Facebook over the weekend of April 16 and 17.

Senior Police Officer for Blaenau Gwent, Caerphilly and Torfaen, Superintendent Marc Budden said: “Whether this type of offence is carried out against a member of the public or one of our own police officers, our response will always be swift and thorough.

“This behaviour, whether in person, via text, social media or online, is unacceptable and there will always be consequences to those who decide to act in this way.”

If these people have indeed posted Racist postings on social media they deserve to get sorted. If these remarks are targeted at a police officer, doing his duty in and for the community, then these people should not have their identity protected.

A balance should be drawn between `conflict banter` and determined racist attacks, and Superintendent Budden will, I am sure, draw the line and prosecute those who cross that line, and so he should.

There is no justification for being rude, but should it be a criminal offence?

There are those people who post comments on this media news paper who are Rude, Crude, dispresectful, and hostile, they are identified as Welsh Nationalists, and they make their unacceptable comments in the name of politics. That is different to `Racists` personal attacks on Serving Police Officers, which has to be viewed as criminal activity and dealt with with the full force of law the postings I speak about, made in the name of `Nationalism`and in support of The Welsh Nationalist Party, (almost racist in thier nature particularly if the insults made are targeted to people who dont agree with their narrow interpretation of how Wales should be governed) but, they are made by inane individuals who are, angry, frustrated, and political failures themselves and they can only then justify thier positions by being disrespectful to everyone and anyone who do not support thier brand of narrow politics.
The people who posted racist comment about a police officer have to be taken before the courts, the people who post crude rude disrespectful and personal comments vilifying other peoples views and opinions should not, they should simply keep taking the medication to keep them as calm as possible.

You brits need freedom of speech. And the right to bear arms.

    Anything else?

Freedom of speech was replaced by freedom to be offended some years ago in Britain.
